FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – In the first official release of the regional rankings, Nova Southeastern was slotted at No. 4 among all south region representatives, announced by the NCAA on Wednesday. The top-seven teams within the region will receive bids to the 2017 NCAA Tournament.
The Sharks boast an overall record of 27-15 against Division II competition, including a 26-13 mark versus regional opponents following last weekend's three-game sweep of Embry-Riddle. Head coach
Greg Brown's club mashed a total of nine home runs throughout the series, outscoring the Eagles by a combined 39-11 margin.
Delta State, whom the Sharks ousted from regional play a year ago, claimed the top spot in this week's poll, followed by No. 2 Tampa and No. 3 Florida Southern. Rounding out the top-seven were North Alabama, West Alabama and Union (Tenn.), although an automatic bid will also be handed out to a member of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC).
Still with plenty of baseball left to be played, NSU will host Florida Southern this Friday at 6 p.m. ET in the opener of a key Sunshine State Conference series. For complete coverage, log onto
