FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Already with one all-conference and two all-region honors to his name, Nova Southeastern second baseman
Jancarlos Cintron has picked up accolade No. 4 this season after being selected to the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region First Team.
Picked as a first team selection by the D2CCA and NCBWA, Cintron adds the ABCA/Rawlings recognition following a senior season in which he recorded a slash line of .370/.472/.578 in 45 starts. Out of the lead-off spot in the order, the Sharks' catalyst collected eight home runs and 29 RBI's, while scoring 59 runs. Back in March, Cintron set a new program record with at least one hit in 24 straight games and even notched a six-hit effort against Embry-Riddle on April 22. He finished among the top-10 in the Sunshine State Conference in: hits (71), on-base percentage (.472) and runs.
Delta State's Zack Shannon earned the South Region Position Player of the Year, while David LeBron of Tampa was named South Region Pitcher of the Year.
The ABCA/Rawlings All-Americans will be announced on Tuesday, May 30.
The ABCA, founded in 1945, is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Its more than 8,000 members represent all 50 states and 25 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include eight divisions: NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA, Pacific Association Division, High School and Youth. The 74th annual ABCA Convention will be held Jan. 4-7, 2018 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
