FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Head coach
Jim Crutchfield is picking up steam on the recruiting trail, and on Thursday, landed his second commitment just this week when Ohio guard Eddie Puisis announced he'll be attending Nova Southeastern next fall.
Crutchfield has made depth at the guard position a priority this cycle, and now adds the 6-foot-2 Puisis, who averaged 17 points and five rebounds as a senior at Mason High School in Mason, Ohio.
In 2016-17, Puisis was named second team all-state, while earning both District 15 and Greater Miami Conference (GMC) Player of the Year honors. As a three-year member of the Comets, Puisis guided the program to a combined 63-7 mark, which included a district title and a trip to the state tournament this past season.
"Eddie is a great perimeter shooter," said Crutchfield. "He comes from one of the top programs in the state of Ohio, and has competed at a high level in both high school and in summer AAU basketball. He has shown he can be very effective against good competition. I guess he is what a lot of people would call an overachiever. When you work as hard as Eddie has, though, in the classroom and on the court you tend to achieve a lot."
"Eddie is a tremendous young man on and off the court," echoed Mason High School assistant coach Kyle Peters. "Eddie is a winner! He can score the ball anyway you want it and really stretches the defense with his outside shooting."
Puisis joins Nick Smith as the Sharks' two current members of the 2017 class. He chose NSU over Air Force and Palm Beach Atlantic.
