NSU Associate AD Kelley Kish Selected for NCAA Mentoring Program

FORT LAUDERDALE – Nova Southeastern University's Associate AD and Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) has been selected as one of just 10 to participate in the Women and Minorities Mentoring Program sponsored by the NCAA and Division II Athletic Directors Association. She is currently attending orientation session from July 19-21 in Indianapolis.

The purpose of the NCAA & Division II Athletic Directors Association Women and Minorities Mentoring Program is to provide women and minority athletic administrators in NCAA DII the opportunity to enhance career development through a mentoring relationship that fosters personal and professional growth. The program seeks to build a foundation that encourages participants to pursue a long range career in athletics administration with an ultimate career goal of serving as a Division II Director of Athletics.

"We are very fortunate that the leaders of DII and the DII Athletic Directors Association value the power of mentorship and growth for aspiring DII Directors of Athletics," Kish said. "I am looking forward to fully engaging in the program this year and learning from the vast array of mentors and facilitators. The knowledge will have an impact on my immediate work at NSU and as I strive toward becoming a DII Director of Athletics."

The goals of the program are to:
  • Assist with successfully navigating a career in athletics administration
  • Provide enriched learning experiences that may enhance career mobility
  • Help mentees set personal and professional goals for the future
  • Encourage mentees to maintain a healthy balance between home, work and recreation

In addition to the three-day seminar held in Indianapolis, those participating are committed to participating in eight monthly webinars through May 2018, consistent communication throughout the year with their assigned mentor, attendance at the NACDA Convention in June 2018 and travel for one on campus visit with their assigned mentor to shadow him or her in which the NCAA will pay the expense.

In addition to Kish's participation in the Women and Minorities Mentoring Program, she will begin her service on the DII Women's Soccer Committee starting Sept. 1, 2017. She is also wrapping up service on the DII Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Committee as the south region representative and two-year stint as the chair of the NCAA Women's Volleyball Rules Committee.

Kish joined the NSU Athletics staff in August 2012 as the Associate Athletics Director/SWA for Internal Operations, Sport Administration and Compliance. She has also worked closely with the business manager relating to all spending, budgeting and forecasting for the department and has served on numerous committees during her tenure. Kish also spearheads the athletic department's inclusion efforts and developed the script and participants for the 2014 "You Can Play" video and facilitates Step UP! Bystander Intervention Training for campus.
