FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – After almost three weeks off the court due to Hurricane Irma, the Nova Southeastern volleyball team came back with a 2-0 weekend, picking up wins over Embry-Riddle and Florida Tech. During the winning weekend,
Denvyr Tyler-Palmer put up back-to-back double-double performances, earning her the honor of Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the first award gathered by a Shark this season.
In a five-set win over SSC newcomer Embry-Riddle, the outside hitter from Jacksonville, Fla. tallied a game-high 26 kills to go along with 14 digs to complete the double-double. On Saturday in a 3-1 win over FIT, Tyler-Palmer recorded her third-straight double-double with 28 kills and 17 digs.
Over the weekend, she finished with a .333 hitting percentage, posting 6.0 kills/set and 3.44 digs/set . In her five games played this season, Tyler-Palmer boasts an average of 5.64 k/s, a conference high. Her two double-doubles bring her overall career tally to 25.
The Sharks (4-2, 2-0 SSC) will be back on the court tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 26, to compete in a rescheduled game again Lynn in Boca Raton, Fla.
