Dennis Selected to Bevo Francis Top 50 Watch List

Top 25 players to be announced on Mar. 15

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – David Dennis has proven himself as one of the nation's elite throughout the 2017-18 season, and has rightfully been selected to the Top 50 Watch List for the Bevo Francis Award, announced by Small College Basketball. The prestigious list consists of 50 of the finest men's basketball players across the country, spanning both NCAA Division II and Division III, as well as the NAIA, USCAA and NCCAA.

"The process of selecting 50 players from all of small college basketball - over 1,100 schools - has been incredibly challenging," said SCB Founder, John McCarthy. "Our committee has done a tremendous amount of research, and provided a great deal of input. The players listed on the Top 50 Watch List for the Bevo Francis Award are very good players that are in the midst of a tremendous season. I sincerely congratulate each and every player on this list, as this is truly an elite group of players."

In just his first season with Nova Southeastern, Dennis has helped transform the program, and has the Sharks just one game out of the top spot in the Sunshine State Conference race. The junior point guard currently leads the team in nearly every major category, including: points (20.4 ppg), rebounds (6.5 rpg), assists (7.0 apg), steals (3.7 spg) and minutes (39.6 mpg). His assist, steal and minutes numbers are even among the Top-10 in all of Division II. Dennis has posted double-figure scoring efforts in 22 of 23 starts this season, topping the 30-point mark three times. He has added five double-doubles, while notching at least five steals in eight different contests.

Dennis is one of only two players from the SSC to be recognized, joined alongside by Barry point guard Elvar Fridriksson.

The list will be narrowed down to 25 players on Mar. 15. The finalists will be then be showcased in a highlight video on Mar. 31.

The 2018 Bevo Francis Award winner will be announced on Apr. 2, but for the first time, the award will be presented to the winner on May 19 at the newly created National Awards Show in conjunction with the SCB Alumni Association's Celebration of the Game event at the Crowne Plaza in Kansas City, Mo.
