NSU SWIMMING AND DIVING BIO:
AS A SENIOR (2012-13)
Black garnered three All-America and three honorable mention All-America awards. Black, who was the national champion in the 500-yard freestyle, also was bestowed All-America honors in the 800-yard free relay, 1,000-yard free and the 200-yard freestyle. The senior added honorable mention All-American accolades in the 1,000-yard freestyle, 400-yard free relay, and the 400-yard medley relay. Black was named to the Sunshine State Conference second-team. At the SSC championships, Black came in third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:55.43. She came in fourth in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:51.11. She went on to place fifth in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:22.66...Swimming at the Shark Invitational, she took home the Michael D. Fish Outstanding Performance Award for the second year in a row She took top honors in the 200, 500 and 1,000-yard freestyle breaking the meet records with times of 1:50.62, 4:54.01 and 10:04.57, respectively. She also competed in the 100 and 200-yard backstroke where she placed fourth and fifth with times of 58.69 and 2:05.80, respectively. She was named SSC Swimmer of the Week for the weeks of Nov. 8th and Dec. 22nd.
AS A JUNIOR (2011-12)
Honored as an All-American in the 500-freestyle while being crowned the national individual title in the event, 1000-free,1650-free, and 800-free relay...She was awarded with the All-American Honorable Mention in the 200-free and 400-free relay.. Received First Team All -SSC and was named SSC Swimmer of the Year for the 2011-2012 season ...In the women’s 200-yard freestyle Black reached fifth with a time of (1:56.90). Black posted a NCAA B-qualifying time of 5:10.99, to finish in second-place in the 500- yard freestyle against Indian River & Florida International University (11/12/2011 ) … In the 1000-yard freesyle she further displayed her dominance as she blew by the B-cut time by over six seconds, clocking in, and winning, with a time of 10:35.19...She swam in the 500-yard free and recorded a B-cut qualifying time of 5:07.91 which put her in first by 10 seconds at Tampa (12/3/2011)…. Swam at the NSU Shark Invitational (12/16-19/2011) in the evening’s finals, she took another victory as she won the women’s 1650- free destroying her previous team record by over 30 seconds, clocking in at 17:06.47…she took home the Michael D. Fish Outstanding Performer Award honors.. Against Florida Southern (1/21/2012 ) she claimed the number one slot with her second B-cut time of the day, finishing at 5:03.21… At the SSC Championships (2/15-18/2012 ) she took second place with an A-cut finishing time of 16:56.53 in the 1650- free….Swimming in the Division II NCAA Championships (3/14-17/2012) she won the 500-free with a time of 4;49.86 and swam the 1,650-free and turned in a personal best time in the event at 16:51.26 and finished third overall...she was also took part in the 400-free relay and 800-free relay that are both new Sunshine State Conference and NSU records.
PREVIOUS SCHOOL
Swam for Florida Gulf Coast University from 2009 through 2010...As a freshman she posted three top-ten freestyle performances.
HIGH SCHOOL
She swam all four years for coach Mac Kennedy at Bishop Verot High School.
CLUB EXPERIENCE
Was a member of Swim Florida and was coached by Mac Kennedy.
PERSONAL
She is an exercise and sports science major…Her parents are Larry and Debra Black…She has one sibling, Lauren Black.
