Named All-Region Honoree in the Pole Vault…Set a personal-best while placing second in the event at the Peach Belt Conference Championship with a height of 4.55m…Also finished second in the javelin with a season-best 52.33m…Ended the competition throwing 40.67m in the discus.

AS A JUNIOR (2017)
Named All-South Region honoree in the pole vault by USTFCCCA…Competed in six events during his first season with the Sharks…Took home the program’s first Peach Belt Conference Field Athlete of the Year Award…Broke the programs oldest record, the javelin at the PBC with a first-place toss 53.45m…Matula followed with a gold medal in the pole vault at 4.25m, season-best was 4.40m at the Miami Hurricane Invitational…Finished fourth in the discus and fifth in the shotput with a career-best 42.52m in the discus and a season-best 13.18m in the shotput…Set a season-best 6.79m in the long jump at the Miami Hurricane Invitational.
