Abbey Gittings (Jr., Tamworth, England), the top-ranked golfer in all of NCAA Division-II and Sunshine State Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week, has been selected as the NSU Athlete of the Week for March 13, 2012. Gittings grabbed her first individual win of the spring, placing first of 66 golfers at Rollins' Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational. Gittings fired a three-round score of 222 (76-73-73) to lead the Sharks to a first-place finish in the 12-team field. Gittings won the tournament due to her consistent play. Windy conditions caused most of the golfers in the field to drop off significantly in the final round. However, Gittings was not affected by the conditions and replicated her lowest round of the tournament.
