On the women’s side in the discus event, freshman Jessica Nyiro (Davie, Fla.) earned NSUSharks.com Athlete of the Week, as she threw a new school record of 37.58 meters, placing second in the event at the Miami Invitational. At the Embry Riddle Classic, Nyiro had a strong day, as she took second in the javelin with a throw of 36.02 meters. She also competed in the shot put and javelin where she finished fourth and sixth with throws of 10.31 meters and 26.14 meters, respectively.
