From 2006 to 2008, Brian Cook was the Sharks' premier power hitter and one of the best offensive talents in team history. Cook was the first Shark to be named as the Sunshine State Conference Baseball Player of the Year in 2008. In each of his two seasons with NSU, he was named to the All-SSC First Team as a first baseman. Cook was named an All-American and the ABCA/Rawlings South Region Player of the Year in 2008. He currently holds the top spot in batting average (.408), slugging percentage (.771) and is second in home runs (30) in a career.

Cook holds two single-season records as well in home runs (17) and slugging percentage (.799), both done in 2008. In both seasons, he hit at least 15 home runs and slugged over .740. Cook finished his career starting in 104 of the 105 games he played in and tallied 150 hits in 367 at bats. In his career, he scored 121 times, while finishing with 35 doubles, four triples and 108 runs batted in. Additionally, he was named NSU Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2008. Cook graduated in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's degree in science, biomedical informatics healthcare, information technology in 2010. He is currently an Integration Architect at Cerner Corporation in Kansas City, Missouri.
