Dr. Romain Onteniente is one of the finest men's soccer players to ever wear a Nova Southeastern uniform. Onteniente remains the program's only player since 2004 to take home Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year honors, doing so in 2007 – the same year he tallied 18 goals and six assists. His goals and points totals as a sophomore each rank tied for third all-time in a single season, while his 11 assists as a junior rank second all-time in a single season. More impressively, though, are Onteniente's career numbers, as he owns the title as the only player in NSU history to rank among the Top-4 in: goals (37), game-winning goals (8), assists (23) and points (97). The former midfielder was twice named an All-SSC honoree. In addition, he was a two-time, All-South region selection and landed on the SSC All-Tournament team in 2009.

He graduated from NSU in 2010 with a Bachelor's degree in Biology to go along with his minors in Chemistry and Psychology. He earned a Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine in 2014 from Barry University and was nationally recognized by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery as the recipient of the Dr. Michael L. Stone award for outstanding professional conduct. He graduated from the residency program at Mercy Hospital as chief resident this past June.

Additionally, he co-founded Podiatry Overseas Association, a nonprofit organization, which takes podiatric medicine on a humanitarian journey abroad, treating patients in remote areas of the world. Onteniente currently works for Merritt Island Foot & Ankle. He resides in Melbourne, Florida with his wife, Maeva. The couple are expecting their first child in November.
