Men's Soccer Battles to 3-3 Draw with Florida Southern

Onteniente helps NSU overcome 3-1 2nd half deficit

Romain Onteniente (Fr., Saint Laurent du Var, France) registered a two goals and an assist as Nova Southeastern (7-5-2, 3-2-2) overcame a 3-1 deficit to tie the Florida Southern Moccasins (4-7-3, 2-3-2) 3-3 on Saturday night.

Onteniente put the Sharks on the board in the first half when, with NSU trailing 2-0, he drilled a shot off of the far post and into the net in the 14th minute.

The Mocs would go up 3-1 in the second half after Ola Sandquist capitalized on a loose ball and slipped it past Sharks 'keeper Jarod Rennick (Jr., Allen, Texas).

Onteniente would bring the Sharks back, however, as he took a free kick from outside the right side of the 18 yard box. Michael Kammermeyer (Fr., Nuremburg, Germany) gathered in the kick and rifled it past Mocs 'keeper Matt Ward in the 73rd minute. Seven minutes later, Onteniente was taken down from behind inside the penalty area and promptly converted his second penalty kick in a week.

Doug Hughes and Garret Gaa also scored for Florida Southern.

Rennick made five saves while Ward made three.

NSU will be back in action on Tuesday, October 17 as they host Northwood University at the NSU Soccer Complex at 7p.m.
