Sharks Volleyball Defeated By #8 Florida Southern

Moccasins Put An End To The Sharks Three Game Win Streak

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (October 14, 2006) - The #8 nationally ranked Florida Southern Moccasins remained undefeated in Sunshine State Conference play as they defeated the Sharks in three games by the scores of 30-20, 30-19, and 30-24. The loss snapped the NSU three game winning streak and dropped the Sharks overall record to 9-15 on the season. With the victory, Florida Southern stands at 22-3 on the season and 10-0 in conference play.

Sophomore middle blocker Melinda Gorman (Sarasota, Fla.) led the Sharks attack with eight kills. Gorman also posted seven digs and two blocks in the match. Sophomore middle Emily Carle (Missouri City, Texas) was close behind with seven kills and also had season high four service in the match. Senior libero Itza Miranda (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico) led the team with 13 digs in the match for NSU.

Florida Southern's Beverly Stasis had a match high 14 kills in the game for the Moccasins.

NSU remains home to host Puerto-Rico Piedras on Thursday, October 19th at 7 p.m.
