The Nova Southeastern University men's soccer team (0-1-0) fell by a 2-0 final on Sunday evening in their 2006 season-opener to the host Embry-Riddle University Eagles (1-0-0).

After 80 minutes of scoreless soccer, Embry-Riddle midfielder Joe Joffe scored an unassisted goal for what proved to be the game-winner for the Eagles. Second half substitute Ian Thompson added an insurance goal in the 86th minute off a cross from Peter Masters to close out the scoring.

NSU's best chance came in the 50th minute, when a free kick from 20-yards away by defender Michael Kammermeyer (Fr., Nuremberg, Germany) glanced off the crossbar and the score remained knotted at 0-0.
