NSU senior striker Lorcan Cronin (Dublin, Ireland) scored both goals as the Nova Southeastern Men's Soccer team (3-1-0, 1-0-0 SSC) defeated the Eckerd College Tritons (2-3-0, 0-1-0 SSC) by a 2-1 final in double-overtime at the NSU Soccer Complex.
NSU opened the scoring in the eighth minute as Cronin grabbed a loose ball at the top of the 18-yard box and drilled a shot into the lower left corner of the goal.
Eckerd equalized in the 24th minute as Joe Ilett collected a rebound off Sharks 'keeper Jarod Rennick (Jr., Allen, Texas) and slotted the ball in the back of the net to tie the match at 1-1.
The game remained knotted through the entire second half and first 10-minute overtime period. 19 seconds into the 2nd overtime NSU was awarded a penalty kick when forward Anton Siedlitzki (Fr., Munich, Germany) was hauled down in the box. Cronin stepped to the line for the PK and calmly kicked the ball into the upper left hand corner for the game-winner.
The Sharks return to action on Saturday evening at 7:00 PM when Flagler College visits the NSU Soccer Complex.
