Nations Top Team Defeats NSU In Three Games, Sharks Look To Rebound In Home Matches This Weekend Versus Saint Leo And Eckerd

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (September 22, 2006) - #1 Nationally ranked University of Tampa Spartans defeated the Sharks of Nova Southeastern University in three games by the scores of 30-22, 30-17, and 30-18. With the loss the Sharks fall to 6-9 on the season and 0-3 in Sunshine State Conference play. Tampa remains perfect at 15-0, including 3-0 in conference play.

Sophomore outside hitter Christina Chubb (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) led the Sharks with six kills in the match. Senior Karla Ortiz (Miami, Fla.) also had six kills in addition to ten digs on the evening. Senior Libero Itza Miranda (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico) posted a game high 14 digs for the Sharks.

Katelen Dixon led the three Spartans in double figures for kills with 13 while Tarah Marinelli and Stephanie Rivera each had 10.

NSU looks to rebound this weekend as the action continues with matches versus two conference opponents at home in the University Center. On Saturday, September 23 at 4 p.m the Sharks will face off against the Lions of Saint Leo University and then the Tritons of Eckerd College at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 24.
