Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (September 23, 2006) - Nova Southeastern volleyball fell in a four game match versus Saint Leo by the scores of 30-21, 25-30, 30-19 and 30-26 on Saturday night at the University Center Arena. With the loss NSU falls to 6-10 on the season, 0-4 in conference play while Saint Leo improves to 10-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
Senior right side Karla Ortiz (Miami, Fla.) led the Sharks with 20 kills in the match. Sophomore outside hitter Christina Chubb (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) recorded 11 kills followed by Sophomore Andrea Irarrazabal (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) had 10 for NSU. Senior libero Itza Miranda (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico) had 25 digs in the losing effort.
Saint Leo was led by Audrey Starkebaum with 18 kills followed by Chelsea Armer with 15. For the match the Lions out-hit the Sharks .169 to .114. Libero Amanda Cook had 26 kills for the Lions.
NSU will look to record their first conference victory at home versus Eckerd College on Sunday, September 24, 2006 at 2 pm.
