Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. (September 26, 2006) - NSU midfielder Lauren Huffman (So., Flower Mound, Texas) scored the game-winning goal and Nicole Paquette (Jr., Seminole, Fla.) tallied her third shutout as the Nova Southeastern (8-0-0, 2-0-0) women's soccer team defeated Barry University (2-7-2, 0-2-1) by a score of 4-0 on Tuesday night in Sunshine State Conference action.
Huffman opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a shot from outside the penalty area along the left wing that floated over Buccaneers 'keeper Kelly Tryson for her second goal of the season.
The score remained 1-0 until Kelly Diershow (Fr., Schaumburg, Ill.) knocked one in off the crossbar for her fifth goal of the season.
Alexis Hernandez (Fr., Miramar, Fla.) and Stephanie Quinones (So., Pembroke Pines, Fla.) also scored goals and Hayley Oligane (So., New Cumberland, Pa.) registered an assist.
Paquette made three saves while Tryson made six in a losing effort.
This marks the Sharks' first-ever win against Barry in 14 games and extends NSU's team-record winning streak to eight games.
The Sharks will be back in action on Friday, September 29 as they travel to St. Leo, Fla. to face the Saint Leo Lions.
