FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (January 24, 2007) - Forward Jennifer Havens (Sr., Ontario, Ore.), the reigning SSC Co-Player of the Week, continued to have the hot hand, scoring 17 points on seven of nine field goal attempts as Nova Southeastern (6-12) defeated Palm Beach Atlantic (4-16) by a score of 58-40 on Wednesday night.
In the non-conference contest, NSU went into the locker room leading 30-18 after holding the Sailfish to a 26.9 field goal percentage.
Sharks' forward Amber Bishko (Jr., Orlando, Fla.) led the charge in the opening frame, scoring seven points while Mechelle Jones (Sr., Rockledge, Fla.) pitched in six with three assists.
In the second half, Havens took over, scoring 13 of her 17 total points. PBA would shorten the gap to 13 points but would get no closer as the Sharks outscored PBA 13-7 down the stretch.
For the game, NSU shot 40 percent from the field on 24-60 field goals while holding the Sailfish to a 25.5 field goal percentage.
Bishko finished with 11 points while Eliza Allen (So., Hegenheim, France) added eight points, nine rebounds and six assists.
NSU will be back in action on Saturday, January 27 against the Tampa Spartans at 5:30pm at the University Center.
