Onteniente and Benitez Score in Losing Effort

Eckerd's Josh Coldiron scored the game-winning goal as the Tritons (9-5, 2-3 SSC) defeated the Nova Southeastern Sharks (9-2-1, 3-2-1) by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday night.

The Tritons jumped out to a 2-0 lead by the 46th minute as Craig Hughes and Luke Sheekey both scored with Sheekey's goal coming on a penalty kick.

The Sharks responded in the 63rd minute when forward Romain Onteniente (So., Nice, France) put NSU on the board after scoring on a penalty kick of his own for his SSC-leading 14th goal of the season.

In the 68th minute, however, Coldiron gave Eckerd an insurance goal, taking a pass from Joseph Illet and slotting the ball past NSU 'keeper Jarod Rennick (Sr., Allen, Texas)

NSU defender Christian Benitez (Jr., Pembroke Pines, Fla.) would score his first career goal in the 79th minute for the Sharks, following up on a free kick from Ontentiente, but it proved too little too late as the Tritons held on for the 3-2 victory.

Rennick made two saves while Triton goalkeeper Jim Lebonitte made five. NSU outshot Eckerd 21-10 and held an 8-3 corner kick advantage.

The Sharks will return to action on Saturday, October 13 as they host the Rollins College Tars at 6pm at the NSU Soccer Complex.
