#10 NSU Women's Soccer Defeats PBA, 2-0

Alyssa Quevedo Earns First Career Clean Sheet; Heather Swift Scores Game-Winner

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (October 13, 2007) - Heather Swift (Jr., Titusville, Fla.) scored the game-winning goal and reserve field player Alyssa Quevedo (Fr., Miami, Fla.) collected her first career shutout as Nova Southeastern (8-2) defeated the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish (5-5-1) by a score of 2-0 on Saturday night at the NSU Soccer Complex.

Swift put the Sharks ahead early, scoring her second goal of the season in the seventh minute, shooting from the left of the 18 and slotting the ball past Sailfish goalkeeper Ashley Morrell for a 1-0 lead.

The score remained the same until the 50th minute when Lauren Prow (Fr., Valparaiso, Ind.) took a pass from Shurell Burton (Jr., Palm Bay, Fla.) and found the lower right corner, making it a 2-0 game.

For the game, the Sharks outshot PBA 26-3 and held an 8-0 corner kick advantage.

Quevedo made three saves while Morrell made 14 saves in a losing effort.

NSU will return to action on Tuesday, October 16 as they will travel to St. Petersburg, Fla. to take on the Eckerd College Tritons at 6pm.
