NSU Volleyball Rallies To Defeat Flagler 3-2

St. Augustine, Fla. (October 19, 2007) - The Nova Southeastern University volleyball team rallied from a two games to one deficit to defeat the Flagler College Saints three games to two by the scores of 29-31, 30-22, 24-30, 30-22, 15-8 in play on the road on Friday evening. The victory improves the Sharks record setting win total to 21 wins against only seven losses while Flagler falls to 16-13.

Nova Southeastern out-hit Flagler .205 to .166 in the match, led by opposite Aley Tallman's (So., Wichita, Kan.) career high 19 kills. Four other Sharks recorded double figure kill totals, with outside Christina Chubb (Jr., Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) posting 17, middles Melinda Gorman (Jr., Sarasota, Fla.) and Emily Carle (Jr., Missouri City, Fla.) with 12 and outside Andrea Irarrazabal (Jr., Pembroke Pines, Fla.) recording 11. Setter Jenny Fitch (Sr., Batavia, Ill.) tallied 40 assists while libero Kathleen Yony (Fr., Miami, Fla.) led the team with 15 digs.

NSU posted 12 more kills, 11 more assists, nine more aces, four more blocks and 25 more total points than Flagler in the match. The Saints were led by Katie Beale with 20 kills.

The Sharks return to action on Friday, October 26th at 7pm when they travel to Boca Raton, Fla. to play conference rival Lynn University.
