FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (December 31, 2007) - NSU guard Eliza Allen (Jr., Hegenheim, France) scored a career-high 24 points on 10-of-13 from the field, including 4-of-6 from downtown as the Nova Southeastern Sharks (7-4) defeated the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish (1-15) by a score of 80-63 on Monday afternoon at NSU's University Center Arena.
The Sharks would open up a 41-14 lead with 2:54 remaining in the first half following a made jumper by Stephanie Sarosi (So., Mims, Fla.). The Sailfish would respond, closing the half on an 11-2 run to make it 43-25 going into the locker room.
In the second half, Tara Haddock (So., Citrus Springs, Fla.) would give the Sharks a 32-point lead with a three-pointer with 12:48 remaining but the Sailfish, led by Ashley Adkins nine second half points, were able to trim NSU's lead to 17 by the end of the game.
Sarosi would collect her fourth consecutive double-double, scoring 21 points and grabbing 13 rebounds while point guard Abbie Tepe (Fr., Cincinnati, Ohio) added 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting, seven assists and five rebounds. The Sharks shot 48.4 percent from the field while PBA shot 38.6. NSU outrebounded PBA 44-30 and managed a sparkling 23-15 assist to turnover ratio.
NSU will return to action on Saturday, January 5 as it travels to Tampa, Fla. to take on the defending SSC Tournament Champion Tampa Spartans at 2pm. The game can be heard live on the NSU Athletics Audiocast Network.
