The Nova Southeastern Sharks (7-0-1, 1-0-1 SSC) battled to a 0-0 overtime draw with the Barry Buccaneers (4-3-1, 0-1-1 SSC) on Wednesday night at Buccaneer Field.
The Sharks were outshot by the Bucs 18-10 but had their best opportunity in the second half when Romain Onteniente (So., Nice, France) took a shot from the top of the 18 that clearly caught Barry goalkeeper Devala Gorrick off guard but hit the crossbar in the 51st minute.
Barry was inches away from putting the game away in the first overtime when leading scorer Henry Apaloo took a shot from the right side of the 18 with NSU 'keeper Jarod Rennick (Sr., Allen, Texas) sprawling after making a save, leaving the net wide open. Freshman defender Chris Pruitt (Fr., Canton, Mich.) held the line and blocked down Apaloo's shot, preserving the 0-0 draw.
Pruitt's save was the only shot on goal for Barry, thus Rennick registered no saves while Gorrick made four.
Barry committed 19 fouls to the Sharks' six and held a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks.
NSU will return to action on Wednesday, September 26 as they travel to Boca Raton, Fla. to face top-ranked Lynn University at the McCusker Sports Complex at 3pm.
