WINTER PARK, FLA. (Oct. 14, 2008) - The Nova Southeastern University Women's Soccer team traveled to the Campus of Rollins College on Tuesday night on a mission to spoil the Tars undefeated season to this point. Unfortunately, the Sharks (6-3-3, 0-3-2 SSC) came up short on the board, and Rollins (10-0-2, 3-0 SSC) shutout NSU 2-0.
The Tars put themselves ahead 1-0 with just over 11 minutes left in the first half when Rollins' Jessica Deese found space on the left side of the goal as she was falling down. Nova Southeastern Goalie Megan Kim (Jr., Valico, Fla.) recorded 8 saves on the night, stopping 4 shots in each half. Despite Kim's efforts, the Tars would add another goal 3 minutes into the second to make it 2-0 after Rollins' Jessica Mooney assisted Charlotte Murrell with a quick pass to set up a one-on-one with Nova's goalie.
The Sharks' defense held strong, and gave themselves opportunities to get on the board, but the Tars stopped every attempt. Nova Southeastern finished the night with 10 shots on goal and three corner kicks.
The Nova Southeastern Women's Soccer team will next travel to Lakeland, Fla. and play fellow Sunshine State Conference member Florida Southern on Friday Oct. 17 at 6:00pm.
