FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (Oct. 4, 2008) - After coming off an uplifting victory over Barry University Wednesday night, The Nova Southeastern University Soccer Team looked to continue their second half season momentum against independent Palm Beach Atlantic Saturday night.
The Sharks (7-5-1, 1-2-0 SSC) entered tonight's game looking to earn win number eight on the season. Spoiling there intentions were the visiting Sailfish (7-4-0), who came out on top 3-2. Palm Beach Atlantic's Enrico Zanella posted the first point of the match with just under 20 minutes off the clock in the first half. Zanella's teammate, Nick Rasek, followed with PBA's second goal of the night right, and first half, off an assist from Jonathan Clark.
The Sailfish would begin the second half the way they ended the first. Freshman, Johnathan Dupree deposited an unassisted goal within the first 5 minutes. This gave Palm Beach Atlantic a comfortable 3-0 lead to work with. Nova Southeastern struggled to find the net even though they topped the Sailfish in shots 20-16. The Sharks broke through PBA's defense with a goal from Nate Dunbar (Jr., Southbury, Conn.) with 5:25 left to play. Romain Onteniente (Jr., Nice, France), who assisted Dunbar on his goal (Ontenientes 4th assist in 2 games), found the net 3 minutes later when he shot past Palm Beach Atlantic's Goalkeeper Joe Yurchak. Assisting Onteniente was junior, David Wahlberg (Skanor, Sweden).
The Sharks will continue play at the NSU Soccer Complex on Wednesday Oct. 15 at 7:00pm against visiting North Georgia College & State.
