FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (Oct. 8, 2008) - The Nova Southeastern University Men's Soccer team played host to #18 Barry University on Wednesday night. The Sharks (7-4-1) (1-2) were rude hosts to the Buccaneers (9-2-0) as they sent them back to Miami Shores with a 4-3 loss.

Again, the Sharks found themselves in a hard fought contest, but this time they landed more punches. Nova Southeastern Junior David Wahlberg (Skanor, Sweden) produced half of the Shark offense with two goals in the second half, which included the knockout punch with 24:14 on the clock with an assist from Romain Onteniente (Jr., Nice, France). Onteniente ended the night recording a total of 3 assists.

Also providing offense for Nova were sophomores, Juan Gonzalez (Oakland Park, Fla.) and Craig Heenighan (Widnes, England). Each was able to break the Buccaneers' defense and help their team defeat their Sunshine State Conference rival.

The defense did a tremendous job of maintaining an edge all match. Goalkeeper Juan Vizcarrando (Soph., Weston, Fla.), stood his ground as he faced 13 shots, and recorded 5 saves.

Men's head soccer coach Joe DePalo was delighted with his team's victory. He stated, "I'm proud of our guys tonight, they showed tremendous character. This win definitely gives us something to build on as we look to finish strong in the second half of the season". The Sharks will return to the NSU Soccer Complex again Saturday October 11th when they kick off at 7pm against the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish.
