Greeneville, Tenn. (August 29, 2008) - The Nova Southeastern University women's soccer team pulled out a 3-0 victory on the road over #11 Tusculum College in play on Friday evening.
NSU scored first, just five minutes and sixteen seconds into the match, when Alexis Hernandez (So., Weston, Fla.) placed a ball into the bottom left corner of the net off a cross from forward Shurell Burton (Sr., Palm Bay, Fla.).
The Sharks would add another goal in the sixteenth minute when senior forward Heather Swift (Titusville, Fla.) slid a through ball past a defender and the diving goalkeeper. Burton recorded her second assist of the game on the play.
Nova Southeastern scored an additional goal in the 29th minute of play off a corner into the box. The ball was knocked around, but found the foot of Natalie Bellini (Sr., Tamarac, Fla.), who placed the ball into the top of the net.
Great defense and four saves helped NSU goalkeeper Sarah Glass (Jr., Melbourne, Fla.) earn the clean sheet.
The Sharks out-shot Tusculum 12-10 for the match and had seven shots on goal to just four for the Pioneers.
NSU remains in Greeneville, Tenn. to play Mars Hill College at noon on Sunday August, 31st.
