Sharks Defense Strong in Loss to Tampa

Spartan's Second Half Goal the Difference.

TAMPA, FLA. (Sept. 29, 2008) - The stage was set. Both, Nova Southeastern University (5-1-3)(0-1-2) and The University of Tampa (6-3)(2-0), took the field Monday night looking to make a statement within the Sunshine State Conference. The problem was neither of them wanted to "take the spotlight". Both teams struggled to find a way to score throughout the match.

Nova's defense was suffocating. The Sharks were so well prepared, that the Spartan's offense didn't manage to get off one shot on goal during the entire first half. All the underclassmen contributed on defense, especially the two freshmen out of Cape Coral, Florida, Jackie Salustro and Lindsey Nowland.

The hard fought, physical play continued in the second half. Both offense's continued to stall until Tampa Junior, Brittney Evans, squeaked one through with 15:59 left to play. The Sharks would never respond. Although the defense continued their hold, the Shark's offense never found an opportunity to tie things up before time would run out.

The Sharks return to their homefield Friday, October 3rd when they kick if off 7:00pm at the NSU Soccer Complex.
