FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Oct. 3, 2009) - The Nova Southeastern men's soccer team snapped a five game home winning streak by losing to the Embry-Riddle Eagles, 2-0 Saturday night at the NSU Soccer Complex.
The Sharks (6-5-0) started off slow in the first half as they were held scoreless for the first 45 minutes. They took six shots in the period, none of which were on goal. In the 18th minute, the Eagles' (7-3-1) Ryan Maloney scored his team's first goal and the Sharks entered the half down 1-0.
Embry-Riddle would earn its second point when Phil Middleton caught the defense sleeping and knocked the ball in from 10 feet out. The Sharks best chance of scoring came in the 49th minute when Chris Pruitt (Jr., Detroit, Mich.) put his shot off the side of the post and into the goalkeeper's hands. It was one of NSU's two shots on goal in the game.
The Sharks finished the game with 14 shots to the Eagles' 15. Embry-Riddle won the game with an outstanding .666 shots on goal percentage.
The Nova Southeastern men's soccer team will return to conference play this Wednesday at 7 p.m. to take on No. 14 Rollins at the NSU Soccer Complex.
