Women's Soccer Concludes Season With 1-0 Loss at Saint Leo in SSC Quarterfinals

Sharks end 2009 season with 6-8-1 overall mark

Saint Leo, Fla. (Nov. 3, 2009) - A goal early into the match proved to be the difference as No. 5 seed Nova Southeastern University's women's soccer fell to fourth-seeded Saint Leo 1-0 in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament quarterfinals on Tuesday night at University Field.

NSU finishes the 2009 season with a 6-8-1 overall mark, while Saint Leo advances to face top-seeded Rollins in the SSC Tournament semifinals on Friday.

The Lions' goal came in the second minute as Chrissy Darwell's shot found the lower right corner of the goal.

NSU had to contend with a Saint Leo offense that took eight first-half shots. Play was more balanced in the second half as the Sharks and Saint Leo each had a several chances.

Saint Leo outshot NSU 12-3 and held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks. Sarah Glass (R-Jr., Melbourne, Fla.) recorded two saves, while Cristina Coca made one stop for Saint Leo.
