FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Sept. 18, 2009) - The Nova Southeastern men's soccer team opened up Sunshine State Conference play with a loss to the No. 5 Lynn Fighting Knights, 7-0 on the road Friday afternoon. It is the Sharks (4-3-0; 0-1-0 SSC) first loss since Sept. 4.

The Sharks' best opportunity to score in the first half came before the Fighting Knights (7-0-0, 1-0 SSC) got on the board. Romain Onteniente (Sr., Nice, France) took a beautiful shot from right in front of the goal. Unfortunately it was an inch too high and bounced back to the grass off the crossbar.

Lynn would go on to score three goals in the first half which put the Sharks in a deep hole. Lynn's Kyle Conrad scored the first goal and Paulo Vaz would knock in the next two. The Sharks were outshot six to 13 in the opening period.

The game did not get better for Shark fans in the second half. The Sharks were only able to rattle off three more shots, none of which were on goal. Lynn would score four goals in the final 30 minutes of the game to wrap up their first conference win. Lynn's Vaz scored the sixth goal for his team, completing his second hat trick of the year.

The Nova Southeastern men's soccer team will stay on the road for a match at Barry on Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m.
