DAHLONEGA, Ga. (Sept. 4, 2009)-The Nova Southeastern men's soccer team dropped its first road game of the season by losing to North Georgia, 2-0 in Dahlonega, Ga. The Sharks fall to 1-2-0 overall on the season.

"It was a carbon copy of the Clayton State game," said head coach Giuseppe DePalo. "We had a lot of chances and we let them stay in the game. They punished us in transition late in the game."

North Georgia got on the board early with a goal in the sixth minute of the game. Justin Gonzalez scored the goal from 10 feet away and was assisted by Eric York. The Sharks took three shots on goal in the first period but could not take advantage of their opportunities.

NSU had plenty of chances to tie the game in the second half, but none were better than its two shots in 74th minute. Romain Onteniente (Sr., Nice, France) struck a great shot that was miraculously saved by North Georgia. Only seconds later, Aly Hassan (Jr., Davie, Fla.) had another effort which bounced right off the post.

In the 81st minute, North Georgia scored the final goal of the game. Cody McKelvey took an assist from Justin Gonzalez and scored inside the 18 yard box.

For the third straight game, Nova Southeastern out-shot the competition. The Sharks took 18 shots to NGSCU's 12. Eight of NSU's shots were on goal, all of which were saved. A total of five yellow cards were given out and the Sharks received four of them.

The Sharks will look to rebound this Sunday when they take on Thomas (Ga.) at 4:30 pm in Thomasville, Ga.
