FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern women’s soccer team (8-4-1, 4-1-1 SSC) will close its 2010 home schedule with a Sunshine State Conference match against Lynn University (5-6-2, 2-5-0 SSC) this Tuesday at the NSU Soccer Complex.
Prior to the match, the NSU women’s soccer program will honor its seven seniors during the annual senior day activities.
The Sharks enter the match after dropping their first league game of the year to No. 15 Florida Southern in Lakeland, Fla. last Saturday. Nova Southeastern sits third overall in the league standings with 13 points, fighting for the top two spots to receive a first round bye in the conference post-season tournament. NSU trails Florida Southern who is in first place with 15 points and Rollins College with 14 points.
The players to watch for this game will be senior midfielder
Alexis Hernandez (Pembroke, Pines, Fla.), who leads the team with nine goals and one assist for the year. Following her is freshman midfielder
Malin Broberg (Stockholm, Sweden) with three goals and four assists for the season. Junior goalkeeper
Chrissy Hy (Weston, Fla.) has started all 13 matches for the Sharks this season, recording 60 saves and owning 0.98 goals against average for the year.
The Fighting Knights lead the all-time series with NSU 11-6-1, while the teams are split 2-2-1 in their last five meetings. Lynn fell in their last match 2-0 to Tampa.
The Sharks posts a 7-1-0 record on their home pitch this year, while Lynn tallies a 1-3-2 record on the road this season.
