FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern University women’s basketball team (3-0) will travel for the first time this season as the Sharks head to Palm Beach to battle with Palm Beach Atlantic (1-2) on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the Rubin Arena.
NSU started its first three games at home and have accumulated a perfect 3-0 record at the NSU Arena at the Don Taft University Center. Last season the Sharks tallied a 4-7 record on the road.
On Nov. 19th and 20th, the Sharks swept Northwood and Truman State in the Third Annual NSU Tip-Off Classic.
In the first game against the Seahawks, NSU rolled to a 71-45 win. Both senior
Stephanie Sarosi (Mims, Fla.) and junior transfer
Emiliya Yancheva (Sofia, Bulgaria) led the Sharks offensively with 18 and 11 points, respectively.
In the second game of the NSU Tip-Off Classic, the Sharks defeated the Bulldogs by seven, 73-67. Sarosi scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, the best of the season by a Shark and in return was named the Tip-Off Classic MVP.
Fellow senior Abbie Tepe was also named to the all-tournament team and recorded double-digit points in the Truman State game with 11 and added 11 steals and eight assists for the weekend.
Junior
Jada Buckner (Loudon, Tenn.) set a new career high as she laid down 16 points against the Bulldogs, with three coming from behind the arc and four at the line.
The Series vs. Palm Beach Atlantic
This will be the 17th meeting between the two teams. NSU leads the series 13-3 but split with the Sailfish in their last meetings in the 2008-09 season. The Sharks won the first contest, 76-37 on Jan. 12th but fell in the Feb. 7th matchup on the road, 65-57. The Sharks are 5-1 at the Rubin Arena since the program started in 1998.
