The Class of 2010 will be inducted into the NSU Athletics Hall of Fame in a gala banquet ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010 in the Arena at the Don Taft University Center.
Former NSU softball player Jennifer Ridenoure and women’s basketball player Jessica Pate will be named as the fourth NSU Athletics Hall of Fame Class.
"The Class of 2010 helped establish the tradition of NSU Athletics and the high level of athletic achievement that continues today" said Michael Mominey, NSU Director of Athletics. "They exemplified the commitment, drive and character that are necessary to succeed on the field of play and in life. We welcome the new class into the Hall of Fame."
Following is the Class of 2010:
Jessica Pate, Women’s Basketball Player 2000-2004
Pate was a dominant post presence for the NSU women’s basketball team during the school’s final years in the Florida Sun Conference. Pate led her team to two Florida Sun Conference Championships and compiled two FSC Player of the Year awards.
With 1,692 points and 1,056 rebounds, Pate is the most prolific scorer and rebounder in NSU history. She ranks in multiple single-season top five lists with 531 points (2nd), a .570 field goal percentage (2nd), 180 field goals made (3rd) and 171 free throws made (4th).
Pate started off her NSU career with a bang, earning FSC Freshman of the Year honors and Player of the Year honors after the 2000-01 season. She would finish her career with multiple All-Region and All-Tournament Team honors.
Pate not only stood out on the hardwood but also excelled in the classroom. She was a two-time CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District honoree and was named an NAIA All-American Scholar during the 2001-02 season.
Jennifer Ridenoure, Softball Player 1998-2002
Ridenoure was a pitcher for the NSU softball team and led her team to multiple NAIA National Tournament appearances.
She is the most decorated pitcher in NSU softball history with seven all-time career records. Ridenoure leads the program with 95 complete games, 69 wins, 48 shutouts, 655.1 innings pitched, 597 strikeouts, 49 hit batters and a 1.42 ERA.
Ridenoure is the only pitcher in program history to pitch over 25 complete games in more than one season. Her 15 shutouts during the 1999 season are the most all-time and her 14 in 2001 ranks second.
The NSU softball team was named regional champions during Ridenoure’s entire career. She compiled many awards including four All-Florida Sun Conference and three NAIA All-Region honors. She was named an NAIA All-American in 1999 and Region XIV Player of the Year in 2002. Ridenoure also performed well academically and received multiple NAIA Academic All-America awards.
