FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. –
The Nova Southeastern men’s soccer team (4-10-1) will conclude the 2011 season this Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 3 p.m., when the Sharks face the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish (8-7-0) in West Palm Beach, Fla.

The Sharks enter the match looking to end the season on a positive note. Although the Sharks have taken their fair share of lumps this season, they have been competitive in almost every match as four out of their last five losses were decided by one goal. That includes Saturday night’s senior night match against Tampa in which the Sharks lost, 2-1.

A win Wednesday will be the fifth of the season, securing some optimism for the future as it will mean the Sharks finished the year winning two out of their last three matches. The Sharks have had plenty of success in the past against Palm Beach Atlantic as they are 19-7-0 against them all-time. If the Sharks can push that win total to 20 Wednesday night it will be the most against any opponent in program history.

In recent years, these two teams have been as competitive as ever as they are 2-2 over the last four matches with each match being decided by one goal. Last year, the Sharks walked away with a 2-1 victory as Paul Lewis scored the game-winner on his only goal in a NSU uniform. The match also served as the final match in the career of Lorenzo Migliavaca, who currently serves as an assistant coach for the Sharks.

Palm Beach Atlantic has had mixed results this season with wins over Sunshine State Conference opponents Eckerd (5-2) and Florida Southern (4-1), but close losses against No. 5 Clayton State (1-0) and No. 10 Barry (2-1). Junior Kenny Hogg serves as the team’s best scoring option and ranks in the national top-10 with 15 goals scored.

The match will serve as the career finales for seniors Alvin Quaye (West Ham, England) and Juan Rivera (Miami, Fla.) who have both been a part of the men’s soccer program since 2007.
