Volleyball Wraps Up Season Against Florida Southern, Rollins

The Sharks close out 2011 with home matches against the Mocs and Tars.

LIVE STATS

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. The Nova Southeastern volleyball team (7-19, 3-11 SSC) will complete its 2011 season this weekend, hosting conference foes Florida Southern (16-12, 10-5 SSC) and Rollins (22-9, 10-4 SSC), Friday and Saturday, respectively. Friday’s match will begin at 8 p.m., while Saturday’s first serve is slated for 4 p.m., following Senior Day festivities.

The Sharks suffered a 3-1 loss on the road to No. 5 Tampa last time out. NSU got 13 kills from both Danielle Graham (Jr., Cincinnati, Ohio) and Anabely Escarpita (Sr., Boca Raton, Fla.) against the Spartans. That duo leads the Sharks in kills per set this season with Graham averaging 2.82 and Escarpita 2.51.

Florida Southern is riding a three-match win steak into Friday’s contest with the Sharks. The Mocs have knocked off Saint Leo, No. 22 Eckerd and Florida Tech in November, including two sweeps.

The Mocs have possibly the most balanced offensive squad in the conference, as six student-athletes average over two kills per set. Lauren Huber, who leads the way with 2.56 kills per set, also paces the Mocs with 68 total blocks this season.

Rollins has won two of its last three, downing Lynn and Barry, but falling to Tampa. Megan Hodges has been the Tars offensive catalyst, averaging 4.31 kills per set to lead the SSC.

Kiana Parks also leads the conference in assists per set, averaging 10.83 for the Tars.
