BOX SCORE
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern men’s basketball team (1-2) travelled to West Palm Beach, Fla. to face the NAIA’s No. 1 team in the Northwood Seahawks (2-1) Thursday but lost, 87-69.
The Sharks fell into a hole early as the Seahawks shot the lights out of the gym in the first half. After coming out to a 7-1 start, the Sharks fell victim to Northwood’s 24-4 run that lasted the majority of the first 10 minutes of the game. For the rest of the first half the Sharks slowly chipped away at Northwood’s lead, bringing it down to as low as eight points. However, all the Sharks could do was make the deficit manageable entering the break.
The Seahawks were deadly from the 3-point line, making seven treys in the first half to NSU’s three.
Lukas Roesch (Jr., Sugar Grove, Ohio) and
Justin Jeangerard (Fr., Weaverville, Calif.) paced the Sharks in the opening period with 10 and eight points, respectively.
The Sharks lost any momentum they had at the start of the second half as the Seahawks went on a 30-10 run. The Seahawks cooled off down the stretch as the Sharks were able to get the score within 20 points before the end of the game. Despite the rough outcome, the game allowed newcomers like
Brent Armitage (Fr., Ft. Lauderdale,. Fla.) and
Raj Prabhakar (So., Miami, Fla.) to make their NSU debuts.
The Sharks will face a Florida Sun Conference foe once again this Saturday at 2 p.m. against Ave Maria at the NSU Arena in the Don Taft University Center.
