Men’s Basketball Overpowers College of the Bahamas, 82-34

The Sharks led by as much as 53 points in the contest.

The Nova Southeastern men’s basketball team (4-4) returned to the NSU Arena in the Don Taft University Center and soundly defeated the College of Bahamas Carobs Thursday night, 82-34.

Robert Huntington (Sr., Perth, Australia) led five scorers in double digits with 16 points on 6-for-9 shooting. He also recorded a team-best 10 rebounds and two steals. Tim Traversa  (Jr., Chicago, Ill.) recorded seven assists along with 11 points and three steals.

The Sharks drove the first nail in the coffin right after the opening tip as NSU opened the game on a 16-0 run. The home squad reached a 20-point lead just six minutes into the game as they led 22-2. They would reach their largest lead of the half with just over a minute before the break as Huntington made a layup that put the score at 46-14.

Huntington entered halftime with 13 points and eight rebounds. Shaun Pratl (Jr., Chicago Ridge, Ill.) and Traversa each shot 3-for-4 in the first 20 minutes

The Sharks cruised to victory in the second half as their large lead was never threatened. NSU would reach its largest margin of the game with 2:39 left as they built a 53-point lead at 80-27. Lukas Roesch (Jr., Sugar Grove, Ohio) would score his team’s last bucket of the game, a put-back layup, with just under two minutes remaining. Roesch finished the night with nine points and five boards.

Pratl finished the game with 11 points and eight rebounds while Iran Hollis (Jr., Hollywood, Fla.) recorded 11 points and six boards. Teddy Tassy (Sr., Port-au-Prince, Haiti) wrapped up the Sharks’ five double-digit scorers with 10 points on 4-for-5 shooting. Despite not recording a field goal, Justin Jeangerard (Fr., Weaverville, Calif.) brought down eight rebounds and dished out three assists.

The Sharks will return to action this Saturday, Dec. 17 during the Cruzin’ Classic in a rematch against West Georgia at the NSU Arena in the Don Taft University Center at 8 p.m.
