FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – No. 21 Nova Southeastern (4-0-0) will spend its second consecutive weekend away from home, playing two neutral site games in St. Augustine, Fla. at Flagler College. The Sharks will play Columbus St. (3-1-1) on Friday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. and Coker (0-5-0) on Sunday, Sept. 18 at 2 p.m.
Friday’s matchup will be the first between the Sharks and Columbus St. with both teams entering the game after dominating its previous opponent. The Sharks defeated Johnson & Wales, 9-0, and Columbus St. was victorious over West Alabama, 6-0.
Five different players scored goals for Columbus St. in the game against West Alabama. Emily Husted scored two, raising her season total to three, the second best on the team behind Stephanie Lowery’s four. Lowery is also the team leader in points, totaling nine with four goals and an assist.
The win for the Lady Cougars follows its 3-0 victory over Sunshine State Conference member Barry, giving Columbus St. its first winning-streak of the season. Mary Mancin (3-1-1) secured both wins for Columbus St. making four saves against Barry in 90-minutes in goal and she made a save in 68:35 against West Alabama, bringing her season totals to 16 saves in 456:10.
Against the Sharks Mancin can expect to see more action than the one shot-on-goal she faced against West Georgia, the Sharks average 16.7 shots-a-game with a 68 shots-on-goal percentage.
Shanoska Young (Sr., Kingston, Jamaica) has the most shots-on-goal for the Sharks with 10 of 11 shot attempts.
When the Sharks face Coker on Sunday, it will also be the first meeting between the two teams and Coker’s second matchup with a SSC team following its game against Eckerd on Sept. 16. The match against the Sharks will be Coker’s fourth away from home in seven days.
Rachel Solomon scored the first and only goal of the season for the Cobras in its 5-1 loss to Erksine.
Cobras starting goalkeeper Lizz Morris (0-5-0) has played 346:19 in goal, making 43 saves and allowing eight goals entering the weekend. During the game Morris can expect to be matched-up against Sharks starter
Chrissy Hy (Sr., Weston, Fla.) (4-0-0), who has collected five saves in 319:03 in goal.
