FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern women’s volleyball team (2-7, 0-1) will make its first conference road trip of the season, heading to Eckerd for a Saturday afternoon matchup. First serve in St. Petersburg, Fla. Is slated for 4 p.m.
The Sharks opened conference play at home Tuesday evening with a 3-1 loss to visiting Saint Leo. NSU took the second set from the Lions, but struggled to maintain momentum throughout the match. Freshman
Lauren Lewkowicz (Coral Springs, Fla.) led the Sharks attack against Saint Leo, tallying 15 kills while attacking at a .353 clip.
As a team, the Sharks were 11th in the nation in blocks heading into the week, recording 2.52 per set. NSU is also ranked 31st in digs as a team (17.23 per set) with
Paige Boivin (Jr., Plainfield, Ill.) pacing the Sharks with 5.61 per set, good for 11th nationally.
The Tritons enter the match carrying a 7-1 record, 1-0 in conference play having downed Florida Tech, 3-0, Wednesday. Eckerd is riding a seven-match winning streak since dropping its’ season-opener to Lewis.
Eckerd entered the week ranked 17th in the nation with a .268 hitting percentage. Freshman Ali McAlvany tops the Tritons attackers with a .359 attacking percentage.
