BOX SCORE
BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern men’s soccer team (2-5-1, 0-3-0 SSC) stayed winless in the Sunshine State Conference as they lost on the road Wednesday against the No. 16 Lynn Fighting Knights, 3-0.
It was an unbalanced match as the Sharks were outshot 25-5 while playing through rain and humidity. Lynn kept the Sharks on the defensive for the majority of the match but did not get on the board until the 48th minute. NSU held the Fighting Knights scoreless on the road in the first half as the home team could only record two shots-on-goal.
In the second half, the Sharks buckled to the constant Lynn pressure as the Fighting Knights rattled off goals in the 48th, 60th and 70th minutes. The first goal, although recorded as a goal for Lynn’s Michael Kutscher, was played off the back of a NSU defender and sent into the goal. The other two goals were either played off the post or off a rebound.
Andrea Giombetti (Fr., Rome, Italy) made a return to the pitch for the first time in 10 days and picked up his second loss. Giombetti turned in a season-high seven saves on the day.
No Shark recorded more than one shot against Lynn while
James Pucci (Fr., Carrara, Italy) and
Phillip Klaus (Fr., Lippstad, Germany) each had one shot-on-goal.
The Sharks will look to pick up their first win in SSC action this Saturday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. when NSU takes on Florida Southern at the NSU Soccer Complex.
