The Sharks created a substantial first half lead as they scored 49 points in the opening stanza. Their hot shooting against Florida Southern (65 percent from the floor) dipped into Wednesday’s game as NSU shot 61 percent (19-for-31) from the floor. The effort was as strong on the other end of the floor as the Sharks held the opposition to only 11 field goals on 28 percent shooting.
Hollis was the team’s leading scorer at halftime as he collected 11 points on 5-for-8 shooting. Jeangerard had a team-best five rebounds at halftime.
The Sharks’ hot shooting cooled off a bit in the second half as NSU moved into cruise control. However, the Sharks continued to play stingy defense and held the home team to under 25 percent shooting in the half. The Sharks would lead by as much as 33 points with just over two minutes remaining in the game.
The Sharks crashed the boards in the game and outrebounded the Sailfish, 47-41. NSU’s total rebound count was nine shy of the program record.
Jacob Reed (So., Perth, Australia) had a career-high 11 points on 50 percent shooting.
Robert Huntington (Sr., Perth, Australia) had nine points, three rebounds, and three assists.
The Sharks will stay on the road as they travel to Tampa, Fla. to take on the Tampa Spartans Saturday at 4 p.m. The game will be broadcasted live on 640 Sports.
