FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern men’s and women’s soccer teams are hitting the road to take on Florida Tech Wednesday, Oct. 24, in Melbourne, Fla. The women’s game is set to kick-off at 1 p.m. and the men’s at 3:30 p.m.
The women’s team (4-6-3) is coming into this match goal-less in its last two matches, tying Tampa, 0-0, and falling to Rollins, 3-0. However, when these teams played earlier in the season, the Sharks got on top of the Panthers early, scoring all three of its goals in the first half in a 3-1 win at the NSU Soccer Complex.
The Panthers (6-5-3), who are sitting in eighth in the conference and no chance of making it into the SSC tournament, come into this contest winning one out of its last five matches.
Historically, the Sharks have done well against Florida Tech, winning 11 times in 16 matches.
The men’s team (6-7-1) is looking to get back on track with a win over the Panthers before going into its season-deciding conference match against Saint Leo. The winner of the match between the Sharks and St. Leo will advance into the SSC tournament and the loser will be done until next season.
These teams faced off earlier in the season at the NSU Soccer Complex where the Panthers won, 4-3, in an overtime thriller. The Sharks had the lead on three separate occasions but couldn’t put Florida Tech away.
Florida Tech (8-3-3) has won three out of its last four matches. The Panthers have already clinched a spot in the SSC tournament.
The Panthers hold an 8-14-2 record all-time against the Sharks.
