Men’s Soccer Season Comes to an End, Losing to Saint Leo, 1-0

The Sharks finish its season, 6-9-1.

SAINT LEO, Fla.
– The Nova Southeastern men’s soccer team (6-9-1, 2-5-1 SSC) saw its season come to an end, Saturday, Oct. 27, after the Sharks fell,1-0, against Saint Leo (7-8-0, 4-4-0 SSC).

The lone goal of the match came with 51 seconds left in regulation when a free kick from Edgar Herrera, delivered from the left side of the box, connected with Matt Campell who put the ball in the back of the net for his first and most important goal of the season.

In the 19th minute of the match the Lions’ Bruno Da Silva received a red card, giving the Sharks a man advantage for the majority of the contest.

The first half was scoreless and evenly matched with teams recording five shots.

The second half was more in favor of the Sharks as they outshot Saint Leo, 13-5. Andrea Giombetti (So., Rome, Italy) finished the contest with three saves.

With the NSU loss, Saint Leo clinches the fifth seed in the Sunshine State Conference tournament.
