FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern women’s soccer team (4-8-3) saw its season come to an end after falling to the Eckerd Tritons (10-6-3), 1-0, Tuesday, Oct. 30th at the NSU Soccer Complex.
The goal came in the 36th minute of the match, when a free kick taken from Fallon Vaughn bounced off of a few players and ultimately found the head of Arie Anahory, who put the ball in the net.
After the goal, Eckerd packed in and did not take a shot for the rest of the match.
The Sharks outshot the Tritons, 32-2, on the evening. 15 of the shots came in the final 15 minutes of the match. However, Tritons goalkeeper Morgan Crescent made 19 saves to preserve the shutout.
The best opportunity of the match for the Sharks came in the first half when a through ball sprung
Malin Broberg (Jr., Stockholm, Sweden) one-on-one with Crescent, who was able to make a fingertip save just over the bar.
Sierra Lelii (So., Seminole, Fla.) led the team in shots with eight, seven of which were on goal. Broberg had seven shots, five on target.
Eckerd will now travel to Rollins to take on the Tars in the semi-final match on Friday, Nov.2.
