RALEIGH, N.C. – The No. 17 Nova Southeastern women’s basketball team takes part in the Shaw Classic this weekend, and today’s first game against Fayetteville State has been moved to a 4 p.m. start.
The Sharks and Broncos, with identical 6-1 records, will play the second game this evening. NSU is coming off a 78-50 victory on Tuesday over the University of the District of Columbia. That win came on the heels of the Sharks’ first loss of the year, to SSC foe Saint Leo.
Meanwhile, Fayetteville State comes into the contest having won their last four. They have an average margin of victory of over 17 points a game, and defeated Salem International on Tuesday, 90-46.
Game two, on Saturday, marks the first time this season that NSU have faced a ranked opponent. It’ll be the No. 17 Sharks vs. No. 13 Shaw at 5 p.m.
Shaw, the defending Division II national champions, is 1-1 so far this year. The Bears won their season opener all the way back on Nov. 14, and didn’t play again until this past Tuesday (Dec. 11), falling to Tusculum, 78-58.
