BOX SCORE

SAINT LEO, Fla. –
The Nova Southeastern men’s basketball team (11-13, 5-9 SSC) broke a two-game win streak on the road Saturday, as the Sharks fell to the Saint Leo Lions (14-10, 8-6 SSC), 61-49.

Lukas Roesch (Jr., Sugar Grove, Ohio) scored a team-high eight points on 3-for-5 shooting along with three rebounds. Teddy Tassy (Sr., Port-au-Prince, Haiti) and Tim Traversa (Jr., Chicago, Ill.) tied Roesch with eight points apiece. Iran Hollis (Jr., Hollywood, Fla.) collected a team-best six rebounds on the day.

The first half was a lopsided one as the Lions shot 40 percent better than the Sharks. The Sharks shot 8-for-26 while the Lions converted on 15 of their 21 shots. The home team only missed one shot from within the 3-point arc. They had their biggest lead of the half at 18 points with six minutes remaining.

The Sharks started to right the ship down the stretch of the half offensively, but they could not stop the hot-shooting Lions. NSU would trail at halftime, 37-21. Tassy scored all eight of his points in the first half on 3-for-6 shooting.

The Lions put the game away early as they continued to score at will. Saint Leo earned its biggest lead of the game with 12 minutes left at 53-25. The Sharks were headed for their worst offensive performance in program history, but did not quit and outscored the home team, 24-8, over the final quarter of the game. The Sharks brought the deficit down to 12 points and had momentum on their side, but simply ran out of time.

In the end, the Sharks shot 30.2 percent (16-for-53) from the floor, 28 percent (7-for-25) from 3-point range and 100 percent (10-for-10) from the foul line.

The Sharks will compete in their final road game of the regular season this Wednesday against Lynn at 5:30 p.m. The game will be broadcasted live on 640 Sports.
